Hey beauties!
I wanted to write a blog post on weight loss because I’ve had women come to me asking about losing weight, and how they can do it successfully. I know that losing weight is hard because I was there, too. I struggled trying to find something that worked and allowed me to lose 50 lbs.
What I’ve noticed over the past 7 years is that we make it harder than it really is. We focus too much on losing weight instead of focusing on a lifestyle that’s sustainable.
Think about it.
You go on a viscous cycle of dieting, hating your body so much that you’re willing to feel miserable to change it.
Here are 3 tips to making weight loss easier:
Yup, you read that right. When you focus on mindfulness and balance, weight loss will come. This means eating a balanced diet that consists of nutrient dense foods AND “comfort foods.” You can still lose weight eating foods like pizza and chocolate.
When you’re constantly stressing about the number on the scale, and how much you’re eating, you’re most likely not going to be successful. When you’re dieting and feeling restricted from the foods you love, you’re not going to be successful because once you stop that diet, you’ll most likely gain the weight back and maybe even more.
It’s a miserable life to live when you’re constantly worried about how you look, and what you think you shouldn’t have eaten.
Stop overwhelming yourself. This is going to end in feeling defeated and alone. Make one step at a time. You can’t expect to have sustainable lifestyle when you go from 0 to 100. Focus on being 1% better than yesterday and build on it.
Instead of focusing on getting in 5 workouts, eating nothing but nutrient dense foods, getting in a gallon of water a day, etc all at once, focus on what you can do TODAY.
Can you get in 2L of water today rather than the 1L you got yesterday?
Can you eat 1 serving of veggies today compared to no veggies yesterday?
Can you get in 1 workout this week rather than 0 from last week?
Focus on not feeling overwhelmed and taking one step at a time.
When you’re cutting out food and dieting, you aren’t focusing on balance. When your eating habits are truly balanced, you’re more likely to succeed. Why? Because when you’re cutting out foods like pastries, chocolate, pasta, etc then your brain is going to constantly think about it until you eat it. You may be thinking about this for days and then finally you give in and eat way more than you would have if you had it the first day.
My point is….eat nutrient dense foods AND “comfort foods.” You’re going to feel so much better when you aren’t obsessing over everything you’re eating.
I hope this was helpful and was an eye opener for you. I want you to know that weight loss can feel easier. I’m not saying easy because I know it’s far from easy, but why not make it easier on yourself?
