Hey beauties!
The scale can be an important tool to measure your progress, but it can also become a negative experience for most.
Number 5 will surprise you!
Have you ever stepped on the scale and wishing and hoping that the number goes down, and if it doesn’t then you’re a failure? Then you see that the number on the scale went up….again?
It can do more damage than good, and it doesn’t have to be this way. There are other ways to measure progress, and in some cases, BETTER!
You can measure your progress through
The scale isn’t the end-all-be-all.
Here are 5 reasons why you should ditch the scale and use other measures for progress
There are many reasons why your weight will fluctuate. Reasons like:
Even if the scale goes down, it doesn’t mean you lost fat. A lot of times it’s because you lost the water weight. It’s common for you to lose fat, and the scale stays the same.
If you aren’t going to the bathroom regularly, the scale WILL be higher because you aren’t getting rid of excess waste. There’s not much else to say here, because it’s pretty straight forward.
Foods like dairy, gluten, eggs, fish, etc can cause bloating, gas, indigestion, and excess water. Your body becomes inflamed because it’s trying to digest foods that it can’t digest. We make enzymes to break down our foods, and if we don’t make those enzymes then we can’t break down the food.
It’s normal for a woman to gain 1-10 lbs during your period because we retain water during this time. It’s normal to gain water weight about 5 days before we start our period.
Before you have your period, progesterone and estrogen decrease to prepare for shedding your lining (endometrium). These hormones control how your body regulates fluid. When they fluctuate your body holds onto water.
If you drop weight too fast, your brain & body will think there’s something wrong, and it will try its hardest to store fat to make up the difference. This is your body’s way of surviving because it doesn’t know what’s going on.
To combat this, I recommend hiring a health expert to lose weight the right way. Being on a diet isn’t always the answer.
There are many other reasons why the scale can fluctuate. The most important thing to remember is that the scale isn’t the end-all-be-all, and it shouldn’t be the only weigh you measure progress.
I hope this helps <3
