After working with several women I’ve learned that there’s one thing that keeps them from their goal. Whether that be working out, their eating habits, etc.
If you’re reading this then you’re probably feeling defeated because you’ve tried everything. You’re tired of dieting, starting a new plan on Monday’s, being hangry all the time, feeling fatigued…..The list is endless.
The biggest stumbling block in your fitness journey is not your macros or your workouts. Whether or not you are on a training program or just winging it.
The biggest stumbling block to seeing progress in your fitness journey is falling into the all-or-nothing mentality.
You know the mentality….you get a wave of inspiration and start on your fitness journey. You go all-in and give 110% and set an extreme standard for yourself to live by.
And you do…for about a few weeks. And then the motivation dwindles. You skip a workout or two, and maybe you eat the food you swore you would never touch again. It gets harder and harder to get out of bed and easier and easier to hit snooze.
You feel like a failure, and the thought process goes a little like this: “Because I did not do it perfectly, then there is no reason to do it at all.”
This mentality, the “I either do everything perfect 100% of the time”, or “I do not do it at all”, also known as the all-or-nothing mentality, kills more dreams and progress than anything else.
The all-or-nothing mentality relies on perfection being the only way to achieve the end goal.
Here’s a picture I found from Intraconnections Counseling that’s a great visual.
But here is the thing, perfection is not real. There is not a single person on this earth that can be perfect (despite what social media would have you believe).
Your goals, and more importantly the way you reach your goals, MUST account for your humanity… for humanness. For rest, setbacks, and mistakes.
The way you reach your goals must account for reality. And the reality is there will be some ups and downs along the way.
Baby steps, imperfect progress, slow progress, and mistake-filled progress will outperform the all-or-nothing any day.
Don’t be perfect….be human.
We’re going to talk about the all-or-nothing mentality inside the FREE Intuitive Eating Masterclass! I’m going all in on this to give you the most amount of value so you can use this in your everyday life.
