Hey beauties!
Turkey stuffing, buttery rolls, pumpkin pie, pecan pie….all sound good don’t they? I’m not here to tell you to cut any of that out. If you’ve been following me for a while now, you know that I’m all about not cutting any type of food out.
But I’m here to help you enjoy Thanksgiving without guilt tripping yourself into thinking you shouldn’t have had that piece of pecan pie. I’m not for the, “Eat before you go so you aren’t hungry….Eat picky and don’t eat the stuffing….Focus on color….”
I’m going to make it simple for you 🙂
1. Don’t deprive yourself of your favorite Thanksgiving staples
If you end up depriving yourself, all you’re going to think about is the pecan pie that’s on the other side of the room. You’ll leave there thinking about how badly you wanted it and end up in the Dairy Queen drive through ordering ice cream. Why not just have a slice and move on with your day? You won’t lose progress over one day. I pink promise!
2. Treat it like it’s any other dinner
This is just like any other dinner. The only difference is that you’re gathered around the table with your loved ones. Don’t tell yourself you can only have that type of food one day a year because you’ll end up with two full plates of food.
3. Don’t skip meals
If you skip breakfast and lunch, you’re likely going to be hungry by dinner time. You’ll end up over eating in an effort to try to satisfy your hunger, and that’s not fun!
4. Eat until you’re content. Not until you’re full
This one kind of ties into #3. A lot of people feel like they have to overstuff themselves because they only get this kind of food once a year, but that’s not true. You CAN eat turkey stuffing and pecan pie any day of the year. If you’re wanting a second plate (because Thanksgiving food is so good lol) then make a plate for tomorrow.
5. You didn’t gain fat over night
Stepped on the scale that read 5 lbs more than the morning before? Or you put on a pair of pants that wasn’t tight before? Well, that’s not fat. Did you know that 1 lb of body fat = 3500 calories? That means you’d have to eat 17,500 calories in addition to what you’re already eating now. That’s a lot if you ask me! A lot of the times the scale goes up is because you’re holding onto water. There’s nothing wrong with that. It’s your body’s way of taking care of it. Drink some water and move your body and you’ll feel refreshed 🙂
Most of all, don’t worry about it! It’s only one day a year that’s filled with fun and loving memories. You won’t look back and think, “Oh I ate 3000 calories that day…” No, you’ll look back and remember the memories you made. Have fun, and let go of any kind of guilt. You’re here for the lifelong journey 🙂
Until next time,
Christina <3
